To legit to quit.

To legit to quit.

I *might* have a bit of a short attention span.

I have looked at my phone just to see what time it is and 5 (20!) minutes later, put my phone down and still have no clue what time it is. My husband can attest to this based on the shows we watch…storyline better move right along, or I’m out.

I’m not great at “embracing the process” (is anyone a fan of this, what even is this statement?)

Anywho, I read some truth the other day with a new perspective as it pertains to my undiagnosed adult ADD 🙂 in 1 Peter 1:6-9.  The rubber hit the road here, and it caused such clarity for me in my current season of my walk with God.

1 Peter 1:6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

Vs. 6 — In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.

Greatly rejoice.  In other words, let’s get excited about this junk that is haarrrd!!

If it weren’t for that sweet phrase, “for a little while”, I just don’t know if I could be on board.

But God knows this.  He gets that we aren’t super sweet at waiting.  He can appreciate our short attention spans.  So if we trust He is good on His promises, this hardship too, will pass in a little while.

Vs. 7 — These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith-of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire-may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.

Proven genuineness – God is calling us to be truly what we are saying we are.  Faithful Christ followers, we might get pressed to be legit.  Who can blame Him?  How many times have we strayed?  Who doesn’t flip-flop on an idea from time to time.  Fair weather fans?  That situation is real.  It’s all good and great until the trials come.  It’s all easy peasy until it’s not.  God gets that too.  So, we work in that moment, to grow our faith.   We ourselves prove genuine to God, and those around us, that this stuff is real and that we are the real deal.

Vs. 8-9 — Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

In the spirit of this essay, I’m going to jump ahead to the part where we receive the end result of our faith, the salvation of our souls.

I just can’t even with that thought…we got the end result, it’s legit.  We got the salvation of our souls.  He blessed this mess of a walk with Him, with its highs and lows — we get to skip ahead and get the prize before the battle is even done, how can we quit now?  All the toil, all the pain, we know the end of this story.

With inexpressible and glorious joy we are alive in Him.
